bullet London Metropolitan Archives  (LMA) - The major archive for document relating to parts of London outside the City of London.  Very good selection of Schools records.

bulletVictorian London A-Z Street Index - About 61,000 street references.
bullet"A Dictionary of London" by Harben - Giving details of approx 6,000 City of London Street and Place names.
bulletOld Bailey Trials - Currently 45,000 trails 1714-1799.
bulletPoor Jews Temporary Shelter - London - A searchable database of those who stayed at this shelter (typically for a few days when they immigrated to London - often in transit to USA or South Africa).
bulletJews Free School, London - Some of the admission and discharge registers have been digitised and the names indexed.  These are available on the "Moving Here" website.

UK Genealogy

bullet1837 Online - Provides images of all indexes to the England and Wales GRO registers of Births, Marriages and deaths (1837-2002).  Commercial site. Approx 10p per page viewed (Minimum fee of £5.00).
bulletFree BMD - Many of the GRO indexes of births marriages and deaths, especially pre 1902, have been transcribed by volunteers into a new index which is searchable.
bullet1901 Census - The PRO official website - Index search is free. Charges made for transcripts and images downloaded.
bulletAncestry.co.uk - The searchable UK databases offered by the parent company Ancestry.com.  The 1891 census is available (with a full name index) on this website.  They have just started making 1871 Census images available indexed by name.  (So far parts of Middlesex and four Welsh counties are available).  Note: This is a commercial website.
bulletCyndi's List of UK genealogical websites.
bulletFamily Search - The genealogical website of the Mormons (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints).  The Mormons have microfilmed a large quantity of genealogical records including many Eastern European records.  They have also filmed the registers of three of the oldest Ashkenazi Synagogues of London (Great Synagogue, New Synagogue and Hambro Synagogue).  Their website gives details of what registers / records have microfilmed.  Some records have been indexed and these indexes are searchable.
bulletSociety of Genealogists - The main UK genealogical Society.
bulletGeneral Register Office (GRO) - One way, and probably the most popular way, to obtain Birth, Marriage and Death certificates.
bulletPublic Record Office (Now part of the National Archives).  Use PROCAT to search their archives.
bulletFamily Record Centre (FRC), Islington - The place to go if you want to personally search the indexes of Births, Marriages and Deaths.  Also housed there are the UK Census microfilms and other genealogical records (A good place to start you family research).

bulletJCR-UK - The genealogical website for information about Jewish Communities and Records in the UK.  Includes the Susser Archive.
bulletJewish Genealogical Society of Great Britain - The Society to join if you live in the UK and are interested in Jewish genealogy for any geographical region (or if you live outside the UK and are interested in UK genealogy).
bulletMoving Here - Jewish Community and Migration to the UK.   Includes "Tracing Your Roots" and "Migration Histories".
